FIELD GUIDE 02 / Coffee first. Everything else later.

Coffee farms

A farm visit with a story behind the cup and countryside beyond the table.

The good stuff

A useful coffee visit explains the work behind the drink, rather than simply placing a cup in your hand. Ask whether the visit includes cultivation, processing, roasting or tasting; different farms offer different combinations.

The catch

“Coffee tour” is a category, not a standard package. A tasting in town and a hillside farm visit can be very different days.

A FLEXIBLE DAY, NOT A TIMETABLE

How to shape it

Book the farm visit first, then build lunch and transport around its actual location.

  1. Reserved farm visit
  2. Coffee tasting
  3. Unhurried lunch

What your legs are signing up for

Farm terrain varies. Ask about the actual route, steps, surfaces and rest stops before booking. A gentler plan is not a verified accessible route.

Before you commit

Confirm the exact farm, tour language, walking surface, duration and transport. Ask what happens if rain changes the outdoor portion.

What costs extra?

Ask for a written list covering transport, guide, food, drinks, admissions and optional activities. On a private quote, confirm whether the amount is per group or per person. On a group tour, check the meeting point and whether hotel pickup is included.

Pack for the actual day

Bring water, sun protection, comfortable shoes, a light rain layer and a little cash. Add activity-specific equipment only after checking what the provider supplies. See the packing guide →
